I guess this is a log of my summer ramblings, musings, discoveries, and personal think tank. :)

Pre-Departure Jitters
This is it. My last night in the south of the Mason-Dixon line for two months. Tomorrow I will embark on my 13 hour journey to the Big Apple. To say I'm excited would be an understatement. I'm thrilled, nervous, ecstatic (can you use two happy adjectives in the same sentence?)....did I mention that I'm extremely nervous? Why? Well, this will be a summer of many firsts. First train ride; first commuter job using public transportation; first time using public transportation; the list goes on and on. Now that I think about it, this will be the first summer not working 4-5 part-time jobs (talk about a mind-blowing thought). All those 'firsts' aside, I am extremely fortunate to have received this internship. For those of you who have neither talked to my mother nor directly asked me about my summer plans, I am interning at a historic home in Midtown, Manhattan. The Mt. Vernon Museum Hotel and Gardens will be my home 5 days a week from 9-5pm, fill free to stop by if you are in the area. My position? Research intern, History Day-Camp worker, and other miscellaneous duties. If you are not into museums and don't geek-out over random historical knowledge my internship probably sounds like watching golf or paint dry. I'm sorry. The chances that this blog will have MULTIPLE historical geek-outs are great. Bear with me through those moments of weakness, I promise I will also chronicle my adventures outside the "Home". So as the night dwindles away, I shall bid you adieu for now. May the wee hours of the morn bring you as much joy and excitement as they shall bring me tomorrow. Goodnight, and good luck.
